[ Guess who is excitedly bouncing into Ren's bedroom! Well, of the two ladies on the team, Pyrrha is far less prone to irreverent frolicking, but sometimes the mood strikes. I don't know, maybe she's channeling her RWBY chibi counterpart, or maybe it's just the Arkos honeymoon period that makes life awful for everyone.
Whatever the reason, she doesn't really display any situational awareness. ]
Jaaaune!
[ For one, Jaune's not there. ]
I have condoms!
[ It's said in a sing-song tone. (Can you believe this is significantly tamer than what I initially intended?) ]
There's a tense, lingering silence as he stares at her, the book in his lap (something about root vegetables) completely forgotten in the wake of this phenomenally awkward moment. At least this isn't how he found out that Pyrrha and Jaune were sleeping together, but gods that didn't make it much better.
[ It's one of the few places he thought he could escape to for uninterrupted reading, buuuuuuuuuuut he's learning that this is not the case in any way whatsoever. ]
[ That's not concerning at all, given the context, but he manages to keep his very strong feelings of uncertainty buried deep down beneath a blank facade. ]
... About this?
[ look it IS a very valid question given the circumstances ]
[ And yet, she sits down on Jaune's bed like she owns the thing. Yeah.
Ren, you're in this conversation now. ]
It came fairly easy to me. [ Like... everything else... ] It's a bit more unpredictable than our semblances, though. It's not your fault if it takes a little while.
[ That's a tricky question! How do you give advice on something that comes so naturally? Pyrrha never had to struggle with dunamis, much like everything else in her life. (Except swimming. Swimming is the worst.) ]
Um. [ A thoughtful pause... ]
Well, why don't you show me what you can do so far?
[ There's a little grimace, a soft sigh, but a nod in the end. No words to be spoken beyond that - though she's probably more used to this nonverbal side of Ren than the Ren that actually holds conversations at length.
He turns his attention to the light switch, trying to set his mind to the task of switching it off. Right. Focus a positive emotion into physical manifestation. He's consciously made it happen... one out of five times, give or take. He just has to pick the right emotion. It's hard, when your specialty is masking emotions, to let them come back to the surface of your own will. It's frightening, almost - joy, he's found, will often either bubble up too fast or can't be readily summoned, and it's hard to use confidence when you're in the middle of failing to accomplish your task. Affection is tricky - he tried thinking about Nora once during a practice session and inadvertently ended up growing flowers out of the entire length of his blanket.
Friendship, though. Like the one he has with Pyrrha, one he looks forward to building more upon... he allows that thought to swell slowly, exhaling gradually through his mouth, and after a period of time that might seem as though he's not going to accomplish a goddamn thing the light switch finally flicks down.
[ Pyrrha sits very patiently as she waits for Ren to demonstrate. He didn't need to, ultimately. Her mild plea for an example had been expected to be answered anecdotally. What he does instead? Well, it takes her a moment to realise anything even happened.
The light switch clicks down. It doesn't do a lot, in the end. It's the middle of the day, and the windows aren't covered. Ren remains clear in her vision; although, she would recommend he turn the lights back on if he wants to keep reading.
Another few seconds of waiting.
Nothing else happens. ]
That's good! Ren, that's nothing to scoff at. This is a new discipline to you. It's much harder to learn something as an adult than it is when you're young, you know?
[ she's proud of her son (who is a year older than her now) ]

Silence, for a bit longer.
A cough. ]
I'm... glad you're both being safe?
[ ?????????????????? ]

... and squeaks. It's directly followed by clapping her hands over her mouth.
(A small package falls to the floor.) ]
Ren! [ He knows his name. ] -- When did you get here? [ As in, the room. ]

... I can go.
[ If they... need the room........ ]

[ Pyrrha brightens, setting aside the brief flush and hectic sweep of scandalised bashfulness for something more companionable.
She doesn't want to kick him out of his room, either. ]
I've been meaning to talk to you, actually.

[ Some panic creeps back into her tone. This is certainly not what she wants Ren to think of her now!
...
Lightning-qiick, she reaches down and picks up what she had dropped. It disappears into her person. ]
I simply wanted to see how you were settling in, or - if there's anything you need.
no subject
Oh! Um... I'm settling in as well as can be expected, I suppose. This world is still very strange, but having familiar faces around helps.
[ Some moreso than others. ]
Weiss has started to introduce me to using Dunamis, but it's a bit challenging for me. Have you gotten the hang of it, yet?

Weiss suggested I start with small tasks, but if you have any other advice I'd gladly hear it.

Honestly, it usually happens on accident.
